Practice Arrangements

Initial consultations last one hour, during which I assess with the client whether psychotherapy or counselling would be helpful. If so, we then agree to a course of sessions or an open-ended arrangement. If not, I discuss a suitable referral. Subsequent sessions last for 50 minutes. Couple sessions last one hour.

Fees

Fees will be discussed prior to the first session. A small number of reduced fee places are available.

Cancellations and Missed Sessions

If the client cancels a session with 48 hours notice or more, they will not have to pay for the session. With less than 48 hours notice of cancellation, the client will have to pay for the session. However, if I can offer an alternative time that week I will try to do so. Missed sessions are charged.

Confidentiality

Anything the client chooses to say to me remains confidential, with the following two exceptions:

Supervision
In order to fulfil my ethical relationship with my professional body (BACP), and to protect my clients, I am required to discuss my clients from time to time with an accredited Supervisor. These discussions take place in a confidential context. The purpose is to enable me to work as effectively as possible.

Danger to self and others
If the client gives me information that leads me to believe that they or somebody else is in danger of serious harm, I may be obliged to take further steps. I would discuss this with the client before taking any action.
